AJ started his career in 1998 in the market research department of former Time Warner Theme Park Six Flags California , collecting demographic and ad-effectiveness data for Warner Bros. and corporate sponsors such as Coca Cola, Duracell and Stridex.
AJ then went to work for the response management division of global marketing corporation Harte-Hanks. It was there that he gained most of his knowledge of marketing and an introduction to automation when he was given a copy of Microsoft Excel and told to learn it. He mastered the program, creating a tracking system and analysis methods to use for a Samsung monitors telemarketing campaign. The methods proved so effective that they were used to analyze everything from employee performance to marketing campaign data. AJ's solutions were later used to land marketing campaigns for Oracle and Intel and provide ad campaign support for The Gap, Inc. and publisher McGraw Hill.
In 1999 AJ became a partner in a company that provided remotely hosted scripts and operated a network of online entertainment sites including one of the first Shockwave gaming sites on the Internet. His work was recognized, featured and awarded by publications including Netscape, Ziff Davis, About.com and Forbes.com.
Later that year iBoost Technology, Inc. - a Los Angeles based company backed by the $2.5 billion Softbank Venture Capital Group acquired the network of sites. AJ assumed the position of iBoost's Marketing Analyst and oversaw the management and performance optimization of campaigns for high profile advertisers like AOL and Disney including targeting, tracking and reporting for each ad campaign.
In 2001 AJ left his then position as iBoost's Creative Director and made the decision to go back to designing. He took a Webmaster position with adult production company Shane's World. Over the next 15 months, AJ expanded Shane's World from 1 to 7 sites. Through successful redesign and introduction of affiliate and search engine marketing, daily membership sales increased by nearly 400%.
In July of 2002 AJ became the Director of Internet Operations for NS Cash, the Internet arm of adult production and distribution company New Sensations/Digital Sin. Within 10 months, through the introduction of the company's first content management system AJ expanded the company's Web presence from just 1 Web site to 6 sites including an exclusive VOD service as well as a multi-site affiliate program (NS Cash). AJ's use of technology and production methods resulting in the most rapid network expansion the company has experienced to date, a 30% gain in monthly membership sales and the addition of over 1500 active webmasters to the affiliate base. NS Cash continues to use a customized version of the fledgling cms that would later lead to the development of the Elevated X cms.
After a year with New Sensations/Digital Sin AJ briefly returned to Shane's World in the fall of 2004 and then made the decision to work for clients full time. He started design and consulting company Template Empire which quickly became one of the industry's leading high volume producers of marketing and advertising materials.
In 2004 AJ teamed up with old friend and current business partner Mark El-Wakil to begin conceptualization for a pay site cms solution. The pair built 4 pay sites and used them as a testing ground for the first production version of Elevated X. The sites were acquired by WEG Cash and product development remained the sole focus. The partners would spend the next 4 years perfecting the system now known as the Elevated X cms
Today AJ continues to work closely with some of the Industry's leading production companies and cash programs through his full time day to day management of Elevated X, Inc.
